One sealing point, not two. An SAE flange seals on an O-ring in the flange face — not on a thread — so the joint does not depend on thread torque and can be broken and remade without turning the pipework. Bored ball, quarter turn, two-way.

Why buy SAE flange ball valves from us

  • Both flange patterns from stock — ISO 6162-1 (3000 psi) and ISO 6162-2 (6000 psi).
  • Three series — BKH/BKHP-SAE, MKHP-SAE, and full-port KH-SAE to 3″.
  • Metric or UNC bolts — M8/M10/M12 or 5/16″/3/8″/7/16″.
  • NBR or FPM seals — chosen from your fluid and temperature, not defaulted.
  • Duplex stem on the KH series — for repeated torque.
  • Stock in Singapore & Malaysia — out within 24 hours.

SAE Flange End Ball Valves

MHA Zentgraf · ISO 6162-1 / 6162-2 · DN13–DN80 (1/2″–3″)
Ready stock To 420 bar Full port (KH) O-ring seal

Isolation ball valves for lines that already use SAE flange porting: one quarter turn, and the joint seals on an O-ring in the flange face. Used on manifolds, power packs and heavy plant where the pipework cannot be turned to tighten a thread.

⚠ The flange pattern and the body pressure are two different things. Look at DN25: the pattern is SAE420 (6000 psi interface) but the body is rated 315 bar. For a full 420 bar at DN25 the part is the reinforced BKHP-DN25-SAE420. Never read the number on the flange pattern as the valve's rating.

2½″507589.5
3″9051052.3

Capacity climbs far faster than size: from 1/2″ to 3″ the bore grows six times but Kv grows nearly 47 times. When a valve becomes the restriction in a line it is usually because the size was dropped one step — not because of the pattern.

Flange patterns

ISO 6162-1 against ISO 6162-2

PatternWhat it means on site
ISO 6162-1 — 3000 psi interface (±210 bar)The commonest SAE pattern on medium-pressure hydraulic lines. Smaller bolts on a tighter spacing.
ISO 6162-2 — 6000 psi interface (±420 bar)For high pressure: bigger bolts, different hole spacing, thicker flange face. It cannot be bolted to a 3000 psi pattern even at the same nominal size.

Bolt options

MetricUNC
M85/16″
M103/8″
M127/16″

State metric or UNC on the PO. This is the commonest reason an installation stops on site: the valve and flange are right, the bolts do not fit.

Materials

Material codes, seals and temperature ranges

282A (KH)SteelDuplexNBR−10…+100 °C
282A (variant)SteelDuplexFPM−10…+100 °C

POM seats across all ranges — what changes is the O-ring. And watch the bottom of the range: 282A starts at −10 °C, not −20 °C like 112A. For cold duty the code decides, not the material family. The FPM seal codes are listed alongside the NBR ones in the catalogue — we confirm the exact code on the quote.

What one joint needs

ComponentPer jointPer valve (2 sides)
Ball valve with SAE flange adapter1
SAE O-ring side flange12
Allen cap screws48
Spring washers18

The spring washer count follows the bolt count in the complete assembly — as printed in the catalogue. If you order the valve alone without its flange and bolt set, the line cannot be connected: specify the complete set on the PO.

Five installation steps

1. Confirm the pattern first

3000 psi or 6000 psi, and metric or UNC — before the valve leaves the box.

2. New O-rings, faces inspected

Always new O-rings; check the sealing faces for scoring and dirt. The seal lives on that face.

3. Tighten across the diagonal

Evenly and alternately — not one bolt fully home before moving on.

4. Operate fully before commissioning

Full open, full shut, and check the lever fouls nothing.

5. Fix the lever centrally

So vibration cannot operate the valve on its own — part-open is the condition that wire-draws a seat.

Catalogues

Official catalogues — direct download

Dimensions, bolt-hole spacings and part numbers are in the catalogues, as printed; stock and price are not — send the list and we confirm both. The MHA range continues above the stocked series (the catalogue lists BKH/BKHP versions to 800 bar) on request; larger bores are quoted with a lead time.

Applications

Where this range is used

Manifolds & power packs

SAE flange porting is already the standard here — the valve drops in without reworking the block.

Heavy & mobile plant

A joint that survives vibration and can be broken without turning the pipework.

Presses & industry

Isolating a line at full working pressure, with enough Kv not to restrict it.

Offshore & marine

SS316 bodies (442A), or the duplex stem on the KH series.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between ISO 6162-1 and ISO 6162-2?

Both are SAE flange interface patterns. ISO 6162-1 = the 3000 psi interface (±210 bar); ISO 6162-2 = the 6000 psi interface (±420 bar). At the same nominal size the 6000 psi pattern uses larger bolts on a different spacing — the two do not interchange.

Why is DN25 only 315 bar when the pattern is SAE420?

Because the valve body is the limit, not the flange. On a BKH-DN25-SAE420 the flange pattern is the 6000 psi interface but the body is rated 315 bar. For a full 420 bar at DN25, the part is the reinforced BKHP-DN25-SAE420.

What is needed for one flange joint?

Per joint: 1 SAE O-ring side flange, 4 Allen cap screws, 1 spring washer, 1 O-ring. A valve has two sides — so a fully fitted valve takes 8 screws, 8 spring washers and 2 O-rings, plus its own SAE flange adapter.

What bolt sizes are available?

Metric M8, M10, M12 or UNC 5/16″, 3/8″, 7/16″. State which — the wrong bolt set stops the installation on site.

What are Kv and Cv, and why do they matter?

Flow capacity figures: Kv in m³/h, Cv in US gal/min. They climb steeply with size — 19.4 Kv at 1/2″ to 905 Kv at 3″. Use them to check the valve will not become the restriction in your line.

What is the difference between the BKH, MKHP and KH series?

Size and construction. BKH/BKHP-SAE: DN13–DN25 (1/2–1″). MKHP-SAE: DN32–DN50 (1¼–2″). KH-SAE: the widest range DN15–DN80 (1/2–3″), full port, with a duplex stem.

What is a duplex stem and why is it on the KH series?

Duplex is a two-phase stainless — higher strength and better stress-corrosion resistance than plain steel. The stem is the part that takes repeated torque. Note: the 282A code temperature range starts at −10 °C, not −20.

What are the seats made of?

POM (polyoxymethylene) across all ranges. What changes is the O-ring: NBR standard, FPM (Viton) for demanding temperature or fluid. What limits fluid compatibility is the O-ring, not the metal — name your fluid and we pick the compound.

Can an actuator be fitted?

Yes — manual, electric or pneumatic, plus locking devices, position switches and a detent, all in the catalogue. State medium, temperature and pressure so it is sized correctly.

Why must the lever be fixed centrally?

So vibration cannot operate the valve on its own. On a high-pressure line a lever that creeps a little leaves the valve part-open — and part-open is the condition that wire-draws the seat.

Are there sizes or pressures beyond these tables?

Yes — the MHA range continues above the series we stock; the catalogue lists BKH/BKHP versions to 800 bar, on request. The tables here are the stocked series, as printed. Larger bores are quoted with a lead time.

Are they in stock for Indonesia?

Yes — we hold this range in our regional warehouses in Singapore and Malaysia, out within 24 hours of your PO for the BKH range; quotes back within 2 working hours.
